Max gpu power?

My parents have a desktop they gave to my Lil bro. Now they have technically no money for any upgrades so I was gonna lend him my gtx 770 from a. Old build. Now I already gave him a 500w psu with all the connectors needed. But the quick specs says 75w max power. Should that matter since I'm giving him am external psu? Please don't ask any questions or make suggestions, I'm just looking for a quick answer for my question

A GTX770 needs a 6 pin and a 8 pin connector in addition to the pcie slot. That is a max draw of 300w.
A 500w psu should be sufficient.

That's a good question, well I was doing research and I found something about pci x16 slots can support a max of 75 watts.

More correctly, a pcie slot can deliver 75w to the graphics card.
If a card needs more, that is why it will have extra 6 and 8 pin connectors.
6 pin delivers 75w, 8 pin 150w.
