So I plan on upgrading to a GTX 1050 ti from Gigabyte, found here:
https://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-Geforce-Windforce-Graphic-GV-N105TWF2OC-4GD/dp/B01M6Y671T

I already have a micro-atx motherboard also from Gigabyte which is the DS3H model of the B250M series, found here: https://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GA-B250M-DS3H-LGA1151-Intel-Motherboard/dp/B01N2WG23X

My question is will that GPU fit on the motherboard and not extend past the motherboard itself? Obviously as long as there is the proper pci slot, but my main concern is the length of the card. The gpu is 4.7 x 9.1 x 1.6 and the motherboard is 10.4 x 10.4 x 2.1. On paper it looks like it should fit, but I would like some other opinions. I don't mind getting a smaller gpu, but with 3 hdmi ports this is a great value card.

Solution
The Gigabyte GPU will not extend past the Gigabyte mATX motherboard.

Here's to give you an idea of how long that GPU will reach. The photo below shows an ATX motherboard (same width of 244mm as your Gigabyte B250M DS3H):

Here's another photo of an ATX motherboard (but still the same 244mm standard width as your Gigabyte B250M DS3H):

Solution
You can put any size gpu on any size motherboard, be it the huge e-atx or the tiny mITX, it doesn't matter in the slightest. The ONLY consideration necessary for gpu sizes is if it will actually fit inside the case. Some cases, the bigger gpus do not fit because hdd cages are in the way, some cases, the hdd cage is removable, some don't have hdd cages. And then, as said above, it's whether the gpu is long enough to impact on the front fans etc.
