I have Asus P2B and i am not sure how much the total of RAM this motherboard can support. I read the manual. The 2nd page said it can support 128 mb per slot and total 384 mb.
i turn a few more pages on the guide "how to install DIMM memory" and it said the total is 768 and one slot is 256 mb.
I DOn't know which one to belieev!!!

It doesn't matter how much RAM you can put because Windows can't hanble too much of it. For Windows 98 and Me it would be not more than 384 and Windows 2000 would be 512. If you try to put more RAM for example 1Gb then your computer won't boot or Windows won't detect the whole amount of RAM.

Your board supports three PC-100 256MB DIMM modules, or 768MB.

Your manual may be outdated.

I don't know where you got those numbers, but they are totally incorrect.

spiderkat, windows 98 and ME can run till 512 mb but it requires a little bit of tweaking to get it running more.
Windows 2000 and XP 1GB?not that sure but just follow the link Toejam provided.Anyway I don't think of putting 768 mb
just a piece of 256..thanks anyway

Well, I think the BX supports something like 1.5GB, and I have known motherboards to support far more memory than advertized. If I had some 512MB modules around and your motherboard, I'd see if it can even read modules that size!

What's the frequency, Kenneth?

I believe the total for the i440BX to be 1GB, and it will support 256MB per side of DIMMs. So you can use 512mb double sided DIMMs.

I thought I read somewhere a long time ago that the max theoretical memory amount was 1.5GB, but that there weren't any boards that officially supported it.

What's the frequency, Kenneth?
