Hi guys,
I got a core i5 4670k and i want to know how high i can overclock it safely with an aftermarket heat sink. Also, can someone recommend a heat sink that will let me overclock to the amount you're talking about?

Thanks, themason2011

Every chip is different. You will only find out by trying.

And if you want to get the 'max' out of it, that will only come with really good cooling like proper liquid cooling. Max safe overclock on one cheap cooler will be less than max on a really good one.

I thought the swiftech is banned in US. But the H100i is what everyone gets.

I got the Noctua NH D14 SE 2011 cooler and it is awesome! Highly recommended! I would also highly recommend the thread by Intel God, referenced above. Full of very useful Haswell OC info.

I OC my i5 4670 to 4.6 without any problems. YMMV.

i thought that the nh d14 se2011 doesn't fit lga 1150 or 4670k.

can you direct me to where i can buy the kit please? and also will this fit on an asus z87-a with corsair vengance and a cooler master storm enforcer case? does it make a diff in perf or temp if i remove heat sink on my ram?

why dont you just get the standard version then?

Because they use constant speed fans and the only way to reduce speed is to install an adapter cable that contains resistors to lower the speed to another lower constant speed. With PWM the speed is variable and runs at 300 rpm most of the time and ramps up to 1360 rpm under high load conditions.

I had the price wrong. It is only $7.99: http://www.amazon.com/noctua-NM-i115x-Noctua-Mounting-Kit/dp/B00BLS3YYO

According to Noctua's site, the NH D14 will not fit with Corsair Vengeance: http://www.noctua.at/main.php?show=compatibility_ram_gen&products_id=34&lng=en#DDR3_Corsair
Sorry.

are there any other quality heat sinks you can recommend that could help me get 4ghz +?
would Thermalright Silver Arrow or hyper 212 evo be good? people are saying evo's good but im concerned about large price diff
also what thermal compound should i get?

My bad, I am from Canada and we still have them here. I didn't realize... that's a big loss for the US.

I have the
NH-D14 on my socket 1150 4770K, it fits fine

The problem with haswell heat spreaders is the fact they are epoxied on with thermal paste under them instead of being soldered to the cores like previous generations they have the same size heat spreader as any other CPU.
