Max Payne 3 using integrated graphics instead of GPU?

So I'm having a weird issue here. I have an i5-2410M GT540M 4GB Ram,

Max Payne 3 starts up fine. I can play the game, but even at the lowest settings the lag is atrocious. Alt-Tab'ing out of the game shows that Nvidia's GPU activity is shown as none. ie it's using the integrated graphics..so..what gives?

Your laptop should have a setting to switch between integrated and dedicated(NVidia). Check the nvidia control panel (accessible via the icon at bottom right of screen). Alternatively, there should be something in the manual under graphics.

I've already done that, set the global default as Nvidia, used the right click "run with graphic processor option" it still doesn't work
