I have a sony vaio vgn-nr120e. I have seen online the system specs and it can supposedly only handle 2gb of ram. I was wondering if I installed a 64 bit os whether that would let me use more ram? Processor is Intel Pentium Dual CPU T2310 @ 1.46 Ghz.
Also you can be hardware limited. It depends on how much ram your laptop can support on its motherboard. If you have ddr3 ram you should be able to update. If its ddr2 or ddr ram, its probably not worth bothering.
A 32bit OS limits you to 4GB of RAM so if that laptop says it will only support 2GB it's a chipset or hardware limitation. Upgrading the OS to 64 bit will not help.

If you are using intel integrated graphics, it will take up some of the ram. 64 bit windows will allow more ram to be used. You should try upgrading and see if it works
