Are you using it as a space heater or something? It is a general rule that gpu's should not exceed 80 degrees celsius, but they will work at higher temps (not advised).
I don't recall that rule, where is that written in stone?
@OP, check the manufactures site for the operating temp of your card, IIRC the 2900GT was a hot running card in its day.
