hello,

I was asking. Is there a maximum wattage for my motherboard because I want a hd 5850 gpu to build in to replace my shitty gt 230, so i want an new psu. my current is i think about 300 watts and thats not enough for the ati card that i want. i was thinking of an corsair 550vx psu.

1) is that psu enough?
2) is there the right amps or whatsoever?
3) are the connections the same as with my older psu so i can all plug it back in?
4) are there two 6-pins 75 watts? (because hd 5850 requires that)
5) if you know much about this could you give me some additional information that could help me because i'm not that good in pc's.

thanks, steve

there is no limit for a boards on power supplies you can put in a 500 watt and your pc may only need 300 watts you could put in a 1500watts and your pc will still only draw its required 300 watts

the plugs should all be the same there is a standard to power supplies

the right amps are generally specified by the graphics card manual

the 550 x has pci connectors

ati reccomends 500 watts for a single card and 600 wats for crossfire 5850's

but youll be all good with the 550vx

thank you so much! i was sitting around with these questions for weeks! thanks mate. 😀
