Maximum Resolution vs Recommended

Hello all,

I just bought an LG 29UM69G-B monitor (http://www.lg.com/us/support-product/lg-29UM69G-B). The specs for the monitor list its maximum resolution as 2560 x 1080 @ 75hz but the recommended resolution is 2560 x 1080 @ 60hz. I don't understand why it isn't recommended to use 75hz. When I run it at the maximum, the monitor displays a large warning that I'm not using the monitor at the recommended resolution. When I switch the frequency to 60hz at the desktop and I enter a game, that warning is still being displayed. I think that when I enter a game, the monitor is automatically switching to 75hz and then yelling at me that there is an issue since it isn't running at the recommended spec.

Any insight would be appreciated, thank you!

I'm using a Displayport cable. I just noticed that there is some software that came with the monitor to control some things from the OS, maybe there is something in that which could help me out? I don't know, I'll check it out when I get home. When the warning comes up there is a silence button, so I don't see it anymore, but I want to make sure nothing is wrong here.

The only software I remember was basic drivers to divide the screen up so you could essentially run up to four pages/apps. If that warning only happened once then I wouldn't worry about it.

I have the driver installed already. The message came up every time I started a game. Its a freesync monitor but I don't have a compatible card (980m). I've read through the manual and I don't see anything that touches on the issue I'm having.
