Maximus 8 extreme

im going to buy the maximus 8 extreme soon, along with a 6700k cpu. my question is: G.SKILL 8GB (2 x 4GB) TridentZ Series DDR4 PC4-30900 3866MHz for Intel Z170 Platform Desktop Memory Model F4-3866C18D-8GTZ. have to be configured in anyway for it to first post.

Has anyone used this already and how well did it do. this will be used in a open loop and OC. i just dont want a bunch of problems starting out. or should i get something more plug and play to first see if motherboard works.

It will POST without configuring them at all, they will run at 2133 mhz. To run them at 3866 you need to enable XMP. I would recommend getting it working on 2133mhz and then messing with cranking them up to full speed.

To run the full 3866 will probably require an OC of the CPU. Many 6700Ks can handle up through 3000/3200 at stock, beyond that you more often than not need the OC on the CPU to help the MC (memory controller)
