Maximus Hero VI Motherboard boot

Just installed my new asus motherboard but it wont allow me to boot into my hard drive...it freezes during the Windows 7 logo animation then resets help please

do you have AHCI enabled?

Have you tried Safe Mode? May be a driver, corrupt file, virus, malware, etc, there's many possibilities

If you are trying to use the Windows installment from the old motherboard, usually it won't work. If it is the case, try to enter safe mode and uninstall the old motherboard's drivers, maybe it will work; usually though, you will also be required to reactivate your Windows.

i disconnected my hard drive and it booted from the DVD no problem so im just going to buy a new hard drive

Is this a fresh install or old windows 7 from another setup?

Sounds like an old install carried over as SR-71 pointed out..
