Hi,

In my new build I have the following : -

Motherboard: Asus Maximus hero VII
CPU : I7 4970K
GPU : MSI 970

My issue is that I have 32 gb of Hyper X Fury ram (4 x 8gb) and currently only two of the slots on the board work !!

The far two are the only ones that I have had working together B1 AND B2 !!

If I put any memory in A1 OR A2 i get the intermitent q code of 55 which is (memory not installed) and sometimes it will constantly reset.

Things I have tired :

Installing all motherboard drivers
Updating the bios to latest version
Changing the clock speed of the memory manually in bios
Changing all the mountings of the mother board and putting washers on them
Checked for any damaged pins or connectors on the cpu
Reseated the CPU cooler

At a loss here! I know 16gb is more than enough but I have 32gb and would like to use it all!!

Any help is appreciated.

Kind regards,

You're welcome. Pins look ok.
Are the standoffs installed in the right spots?
If installing single RAM module in A1 or A2 and starting the board, does the system POST?

Hi both,

The memory is all the same 1888mhz. All sticks work in only b1 and b2! If any of the four are inserted into a1 or a2 they wont boot and shows error q 55 or it restarts every few seconds. A1 and a2 seem dead.

The cooler I use is the stock i4790k with plastic clips, I read somewhere metal causes it to potentially short. Obviously this can't be the issue with the plastic clips!

Dear Alexoiu,

So new motherboard works fine. Up to 32gb of ram!

Thank you very much for your input.

P.S Do you think I need to reinstall any drivers? with the new motherboard?
