Hello Friends, I need help.
I´m about to buy 2 new GPU´s. and put them in SLI (MSI GTX 980 Ti Reference blower) like the one in the link.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127871&cm_re=msi_gtx_980_ti-_-14-127-871-_-Product

Currently i´ve got a MAXIMUS GENE VI and the spacing between PCIE slots is to narrow.
I´ve been thinking in replacing my mobo for another with more space between slots so my new GPU´s wont get too hot since every benchmark on the internet says that they tend to hit high 80°c. easily.
I use my PC 100% for gaming.

I cant decide between these 2

MAXIMUS HERO VII
GIGABYTE GA-Z97X-GAMING 7

My rig.
Case: NZXT H630
PSU: NZXT 850w Gold Hale 90v2
CPU: I7 4770K overclocked to 4.2 Ghz.
CPU Cooler: Corsair Hydro H100i
Mobo: MAXIMUS GENE VI
RAM: GSKILL 2x8GB 1866 Mhz.
SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 120 GB + Samsung 850 EVO 500 GB
HDD: WD 1TB Blue.

Thanks.

I wouldn't bother replacing a motherboard, because you think the spacing might be the issue. I would improve case airflow and add fans first.

If you're thinking on replacing it, go for the ASUS one, the Maximus series, no doubt, is imo the best series of mobos for gaming.
Really high quality and awesome technical assistance. Never had any issues with them

The case comes with a 200 mm front fan on the front intake, I have already added a second one, both pulling air into the case.
I´ve got the Corsair H100i 240 mm radiator pushing the heat out through the top exhaust .
I´ve got a 120 mm Fan pulling air into the case from the bottom intake.
I´ve got a 120 mm Fan pushing air out of the case from the rear exhaust.

Hitting 80c is not really bad. If you start hitting 85-90c then I would worry. I would try your mobo first and if that dosen't work well enough buy a new motherboard. No sense in not trying with what you have first.

PS: Hero FTW
