[SOLVED] Maximus Hero XI or Z370 aorus gaming 7 (you read right) for i9 9900k

I know that z370 gaming 7 is from an older generation but it has a top-rated VRM.
It is in the top of VRM tier for z370.
Maximus Hero XI otoh doesnt have the best VRM of the z370 generation.

Which would perform better for a i9 9900k ?

More a fan of the Gigabyte models post Skylake. I'm pumping like 200W through a Z270 gaming 5 with no issues, so I imagine the Gaming 7 built for hex core processors will do nicely.

ASUS overcharges for what you get. Strix or Prime are the more appropriate picks from ASUS.

I would pick aorus 7 too but it seems that it failed to overclock an i9 9900k

That could have simply been a BIOS issue that has since been handled, but I can't say that for sure.

Could have just been a bad pairing. It does happen occasionally.

I could tell you the tale of my aborted attempt at building around an Athlon T-Bird 1Ghz, but it is a bit long winded. Suffice to say that all parts tested and worked in other systems, but put together, a wildly unstable system that would corrupt OS and hard drives in hours/days.
