Maximus V Gene crossfire

basically the top card gets very toast near 100c, unless i stick a fan to the side which seems to do the trick. But i was wondering, seeings the second graphics card doesn't run at 100% is there a way to make the bottom card primary and run at full and have the top one as the second card? As said in the title i have a maximus V Gene so i didn't know if there is a setting in the bios? I would check but I am currently away from my pc.

I am surprised that the cards runn differently.
It is my understanding that both cards must run the same to render their owh half of the image equally fast to prevent tearing.

It is normal for the top card to run hotter because the bottom card restricts cooling airflow to the top.
If one card has a blower cooler, I would move that card to the top.

what is your specs and specifically your computer case?

There are three ways to fix your problem (cheapest-most expensive):

1. Put a side fan on the case as an intake.
2. Put a side fan and a bottom fan in as intakes.
3. Liquid cool both cards.

Cheapest cooling solution is to remove the case covers.
Only works if cats and kids do not have access

Is there possibly dust in either cooler?

Why not try swapping the cards and see how you do?

That is the problem, my partner has a cat unfortunately and if they fits they sits -_-. Both blow and my solution has been sticking a couple of fans on the side one push one pull. But i was wondering if its possible to have the second pcie slot as your main?

What is your case?
Perhaps it is time to upgrade your case.
I use a Silverstone TJ-08E which is compact and has plenty of airflow for dual cards.

I have a half 932. i think thats plenty big enough XD. Even with the 2 cards inside it still echoes XD

its the fact that my 2 7970s are like a sandwich. But as i said got 2 extra fans that do the trick but didnt know if there was a way to change what's the primary slot.
