Maximus VI Hero Front Panel Audio Not Detected

Hi
I have Maximus VI Hero, and a 230T corasir case. The problem is that when I plug in my headphones to the front panel audio they do not get detected.

I have normal speakers plugged in the I/O which work flawlessly, I have the newest realtek drivers, and the HD Audio connector is connected to the motherboard.

When I go into the realtek settings and change to AC97, and make front and back devices playabl Ican see that it detects a device but still no sound

Is the FP audio cable connected to the mobo? (to the side of the end PCI-E slot next to the SPDIF pins, and does it (the cable) have a couple different connectors?
