Maximus VII Ethernet Not Showing Up

I just built a new gaming computer with the Maximus VII Hero, I decided not to get a cd rom player thing and to just download the drivers online. When I start up the computer the ethernet is plugged in and the LED turns on but it doesn't register on the computer as a internet connection

You have to have the Ethernet driver for the Ethernet to work, Catch-22. Download the motherboard drivers on another PC and copy to a USB stick. Then you should be able to install them into your new build.

I did that already the problem is when I install the drivers it fails and says that there are no intel (r) adapters present.

Make sure you have the LAN enabled in the Bios, but is sounds like the the adapter may be defective.

I happened to mistake the Maximus VIII for the Maximus VII and I got the wrong ethernet drivers because of that. Oops.
