I just bought this new Maxtor 40 gig 7200 rpm HD. In the derections it says that if I want to make it master i have to place 2 diffrent jumpers onto it in certain spots. The problem is it only came with one jumper.

I got the same drive, follow the directions on top of the drive, not in the directions. Make sure when you look at the drive you have it setup the right way, with the key pin in the same spot.

try cable select...that is what i have it set to.
makes it easier if i want to add drives, or remove drives.

Any jumper going horizontal in the diagram aren't being used and are just storage positions. For master put the jumper furthest to the left going vertical next to the ribbon connection, and that should be all you should have to do.
