Hello again.
My old hdd suddenly crashed and caused a BSOD. it's a Maxtor Fireball 3 40GB IDE hard drive (it's old, but i use it as storage for all the old family photos and also some few important files.) But, just last night it crashed while I was OC'ing and testing my GPU a bit. My primary hard drive, a WD Caviar 160GB SATA2 still is detected and boots fine but i cant access my second drive, i only used it since when I checked my drives on Crystal Disk, my primary hard drive was deteriorating in health, so i used the maxtor drive for backups, but unfortunately, it was the first one to crash. Any suggestions of what i might be able to do? i already did swapping out cables, testing the PSU if it was supplying enough power.

PC specs are:
AMD Athlon x2 2.4Ghz
2GB Strontium DDR2 800
WD Caviar 160GB (Primary)
Maxtor Fireball 3 40GB (backup drive)
500W PSU (dunno the brand, generic)

Thanks!

Edit: I just scavenged the old HDD from an old Dell PC w/c at that time my friend happened to own.

it's probably dead. if you can test the drive in your hand, when you power on, you can feel the power up and the heads start to move and you can sometimes feel if the head is stuck, grinding sounds, etc. If you don't feel the drive "move" when you power it on, it's dead for sure.

thanks for the reply. I checked the drive last night once more and I almost did the freezer thing (that was stupid). i removed the pcb and checked for any damage and put it back in. Also I tested the drive out of the case and laid it flat, it worked! it was working again. I put it in the bottom most part of the case so it would lay flat there and had no problems. I backed up everything, i definitely learned my lesson. thanks again!
