Hi, My Maxtor one touch drive has suddenly stopped working on my iMac (running El Capitan). When I plug it into the USB port, it is not being found by the OS on the iMac. I have tried it on another Mac I have running the same version of the OS and it works fine. The data is accessible and I've run Disc Utility and found no errors. I've tried to reboot the machine I'm having trouble with several times. I have also tried different USB ports.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Solution
Reboot the iMac with the USB drive plugged in. Hold Option after the chime until you see a list of drives, one should be Macintosh HD and the other should show up as a USB drive. Is the drive seen at this point?
If not, get another USB storage device like a flash drive and see if it can see that. Might be bad USB ports?
