Hello, My maxtor basic 500GB ext had disk suddenly stopped functioning,Message says USV DEVICE NOT RECOGNISED Pl help

Have you tried connecting to a different USB port or computer? Also, is the external power adapter (if required) connected and functioning properly? Have you tried a different USB cable?
