Maya 2015/2016 OS Compatibility Question

Hi, I'm going to be building a new PC soon and it's mainly for using Maya 2015/2016 and gaming. I checked Maya's OS compatibility here

Is this saying that I HAVE to use 8.1 Professional ? Basic 8.1 will not be compatible? That is what it sounds like. I only ask because Pro is quite a bit more expensive than regular 8.1

On the chart for 2016, under Windows 8.1 64bit it says "Professional", does that mean it requires 8.1 pro? or will 8.1 Basic work?
