MB installation

I'm buildng a PC for the first time and I've run into a small but possibly signifigant snag. I took apart my old Gateway for reference and it had metal spacers behid the screws that held the MB to the case. My new one, however, doesn't. My question is, are they necessary? If so, should they have come with the case or the MB? I've searched sites like newegg.com and I can't seem to find them anywhere. I tried using the ones from the Gateway but they were attached to the case.

Yep, there was supposed to be a hardware pack with your case. That would have included those spacers (called Standoffs) and some screws.
