MB won't shuttdown

For some reason my MB won't shutdown with windows
if I shuttdown windows it shutsdown but the motherboard does not turn off I have to press and hold the powerbutton to turn it off

I have formated and reinstalled windows it does the same thing.
It use to work just fine before.

Motherboard is a ASUS A7V266-E
with a Athlon XP 1800+
512 MB 2100DDR RAM
Leadtek A250 ultra Geforce4 Ti4600


Ps. MB just passed it warranty period so I can't return it

What operating system are you running? Do you have ACPI enabled? It sounds like a fairly simple power management issue.

ACPI is enabled and I'm using Windows XP
it started doing this about a month ago at first it did
not turn off every now and then lately it just don't want to turn off without using the power button
all bios settings is also exactly the same.

I'd try clearing the CMOS. I'm surprised you're having this problem with your motherboard and Win XP.

Me too

I know how to find most normal error's on windows and
PC's but this one has me stumped.

Thanx for the help though.
I'll try reseting the CMOS hope it works
