Hi Guys,

Just would like to ask a better RAM for my Mboard A320M-DS2. Should I go for UDIMM or DIMM?
They are both 8Gb DDR4 2400mhz.

Here's looking forward to your positive response!

Solution
As I said UDIMM are DIMM. Just not all DIMM are UDIMM. A DIMM is either RDIMM or UDIMM. Some stores just write the generic term DIMM instead of specifying which type. You have to look at the specs to make sure it is unbuffered (unregistered) and not registered (buffered).

Performance differences come in frequency and CAS Latency. In general the higher the frequency the better. The lower the CAS Latency the better. As far as it saying DIMM or UDIMM there is no performance difference because they may be the same thing. You just have to be cautious when it simply says DIMM. Since it could in fact be a RDIMM.

All UDIMM are DIMM. Not all DIMM are UDIMM. DIMM is a blanket term. UDIMM is more specific. You want to avoid RDIMM.

DIMM simply means dual in-line memory module. UDIMM simply means it is unregistered (unbuffered) while RDIMM means it is registered (buffered).

If it says it is a UDIMM you are safe. If it simply says DIMM you want to make sure it is not registered.

Although I can't imagine why you'd want an A320 chipset motherboard. When a B350 can be had for close to the same price. B350 allows overclocking. Although a cheap board is pretty limited.

PCpartpicker example they don't have the exact board you list.

Sorry if I'm too slow to absorb the information you've shared. I know now. Thank you for your patience.

For my mboard, my budget is limited but will upgrade to that if i have more money. Again thank you for the advice.

You're welcome. Given how low end your motherboard is. If you are trying to decide between faster RAM or B350 chipset. Get the B350 chipset. Just a minor CPU overclock will make more difference than going from say 2133mhz RAM to 3000Mhz RAM.
