MBR error 1 after installing new hdd

My friend has had a second hdd for a couple of months now (wd blue 1tb), one day when booting up his pc, he got mbr error 1 (master boot record). This was accidentally fixed by disconnecting said hard drive, he then plugged it back in again, earlier again today his pc blue screened and he had mbr error 1 again, he fixed this by disconnecting the hard drive again. Why is the second hdd causing this problem?

Possibly trying to boot from it. Check the boot order in the bios.

He did, the boot order is fine, any ideas? He just reconnected it and it is working fine.

I believe the boot order changed throwing up the error.
