mbr to gpt upgrade

Hi ppl
I got a 3Tb drive. Long story short, windows only sees 2 of them. Got a 2tb to clone the disk to, using MBR.
Question: Is it possible to format the 3tb to use full capacity with the UEFI/GPTdrive specs, while transferring the MBR disk image to the larger drive? Would there be any partition table conflicts?
Really want this to be a smooth transfer.

You can covert the 2tb to GPT and once done you can then clone it to the 3tb, expanding the partition in the process.
1st step would be to make an initial backup in case things head south.
