I have been building a new watercooled computer and I have a couple of MCP655 pumps. The pumps have the standard black and red power cable, but they also have a single pin pale blue wire.

The single pin takes up one pin hole in a 3-pin connector on the end.

Does anyone know what this pale blue cable is for? What does it do? Where should I plug it in to?

It looks like it should go on the motherboard but I have never heard of a pump being linked to the mobo before.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hey,

The one cable attached to a 3pin fan connector is for you to be able to monitor the speed (RPM) of the pump. If the pump were to fail it would alert your motherboard of a "fan failure." The pump itself is still powered directly off the power supply (unless you have a PWM version, where it is possible to control it through a fan header).

Hope this helps!
