ME-BIOS Sync - Sucessfull

I have a big problem with this computer not booting. Every time I turn it on I get this:

It looks to me like an automatic firmware update has failed and updated some things and not others. But the major problem here is I have no way of getting the computer to boot up at all.

I can access the BIOS however I cannot access the boot menu and no matter what I change in the boot order I still get that message and the computer will not boot. I can't even access Safe Mode, start windows normally options.

I have searched up the issue on google and the most common suggestion is to flash the BIOS but I don't see how that's possible as I cannot get the computer to boot from CD/USB and I cannot run any BIOS update software from the OS because I cannot get the computer to boot up.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

its not a bios update from what I see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_Active_Management_Technology

it is cmos connected so have you tried to reset your cmos. is your cmos battery still good? (it could be doing that config every time because cmos is not storing values) you should also be able to control its settings for AMT in the bios somewhere mabe even be able to disable it.

You should tell us what board you have.

Some can update the bios from within the bios it self.

Now since you seem to be having Intel® Active Management Technology starting with the system. You should first determine if you should even be using it. It is for remove access in a business environment.

You may simply be able to turn this off in the bios it self(since you can enter the bios).

Thanks for the fast reply I have tried changing the AMT options in the BIOS but it does not change a thing however I have not checked the CMOS battery and I shall do that now. Thank again for the suggestion.

The computer is an HP dc7700p small form factor I will have a look in the BIOS to see if I can disable Intel Active Management Technology. Thanks.

Well I tried removing the CMOS battery and replacing it with a new one. The message I get now is very similar to before: http://i.imgur.com/bRGZ7fB.jpg

Also nukemaster there was an option to disable remote network boot in the BIOS which was enabled. I disabled it however I still get the same result when booting the computer up.

Your first message looks MUCH better because data is not being reloaded.

I think they must have another option hidden in the bios to disable this feature.

Its set to VT100 by default and I can change it to ANSI but still no change.
I have also tried hitting Ctrl+P repeatedly as the computer was booting and when in the BIOS and It doesn't apear to do anything.

From what I read(I have no experience with that system). It has to be disabled in the other place as well. Maybe try CTRL + P again with a PS2(round plug fits into a Purple plug on the back of the system) keyboard if you have access to one.

Unfortunately I only have a USB keyboard for it.

I would recommend resetting the bios, but I have a feeling that would leave you in the same place. If your battery died the bios would have reset anyway.

Can you ensure you hard drive is being detected properly. I want to make sure this entire issue is not a fallback from a failed boot.

I got access to the MEBx by enabling POST delay for 5 seconds so I was able to access it through Ctrl+P.

EDIT: Okay so I disabled AMT and now the ME-BIOS Sync - Successful message has gone completely however in its place is a blinking white line top left like it can't find a boot drive. The hard drive is connected and I put in a boot CD and I still get the blinking white line. Still unable to access boot menu and the boot order in the bios is set to CD, USB then Hard Drive.

I have tried changing it around but still get nothing. The blinking white line was appearing because I disabled some LAN option in the MEBx. When I re enable that LAN option the ME-BIOS Sync message appears again on its own this time.

This makes me wonder if your hard drive is having issues.

Do you have access to any bootable CD/DVD(windows/linux/ect) just to test.

Yes I do and I have tried Back Track 5, Windows XP and Windows 7 bootable CD's and still get the same thing.

I have never seen something this hard to disable. This being a business system they want to make it hard to remove, but this seems a bit extreme.

Without actual access the the hardware, I am not sure how much more help we can be over the internet. A local shop may have better luck getting this sorted since they will be able to see all the options at once.
