In the singleplayer campaign for UT2004, each of the bots has four
statistics: Accuracy, Aggressiveness, Agility, and Tactics. I believe
those are the same statistics used elsewhere in UT2004 for bots, and
also in past Unreal games. But, I'm not sure what they actually mean.
According to the entry on bots in UnrealWiki, they modify the "impulses"
for bot pathing, which doesn't really clarify it for me.
It seems fairly obvious what Accuracy would mean.
I'd guess that Agility modifies how good the bot is at dodging and
jumping to a specific place.
I'm much less sure about what Aggressiveness governs -- I noticed that
Diva, a bot with a high Aggressiveness rating, tended to get a lot of
kills, and in CTF and BR she seemed especially good at grabbing the
McGuffins. Perhaps it governs how far away a bot will perceive a target,
or how much a bot will ignore other targets to focus on the main one.
I've got even less of an idea what Tactics governs. Given that this
game's all about combat, the term "tactics" could apply to any facet of
the game, including the other three statistics. My best guess is that it
has something to do with recognizing good positions to occupy.
Does anyone know the mechanics of what these statistics represent?
I *hate* it when computer games keep throwing numbers at you without
ever explaining what the numbers actually mean.
