Not a huge gamer here, but I've tried a few mechanical keyboards and I want to make the switch. I have a Microsoft Ergonomic 4000 right now, and while I like the layout, I'd give that up to not have the crappy membrane keys.
I'm a software developer, so a lot of this would be for typing, but I also play a few games. Mostly Age of Empires II. For the games though, it seems like having a few macro keys would be nice.
I think brown switches would be good because I don't want something too loud, like blue, but I think I like the tactile feedback vs. the red/black/whatever. I'm kind of leaning toward the Razer Blackwidow 2014 Stealth (don't care about the backlighting for the ultimate) or Logitech G710+ (I read somewhere that's one of the quietest mechanical keyboards, not sure how true it is). And I do like the placement of the macro keys on those two. Of course I've only had a few chances to try the keyboards for a few minutes in stores, so I'm not sure.
I'm open to any recommendations or suggestions but don't want to spend a ton (under $150 though closer to $100 is even better). Thanks!
