[SOLVED] Media PC CPU Upgrade Problem

Hi all,

Need some advice on where I am going wrong. I have setup a mini Plex server with the following kit:-

Motherboard = Intel DH61DL LGA1155
CPU = Intel i3 2120
RAM = 2 x 8GB 2Rx8 PC3 12800u 11 12 B1

All working fine but wanted to upgrade the CPU so bought a i5 3450s, once i install the new processor all i get is 3 beeps and no display. If i put the i3 back in everything works fine.

I have been through and checked the specs of the MB and CPU and they are compatible, I have also checked the RAM speed and that seems fine too. I'm obviously missing something, or have i bought a duff i5?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

maybe a dead chip? it is quite old after all.

DH61DL initially doesn't support i5 3450s. BIOS update is necessary.

But ... Intel has discontinued support for this board and doesn't provide drivers or BIOS updates anymore.

Managed to find the latest firmware and had fun installing it. The i5 has now sprung to life.
