Hey folks on Tom's Guide.

I am new on this board but I have a problem with the sound on my PC, running windows 7. Everything was running smooth yesterday but this morning all the sound on my pc has been disabled. I tried looking into my drivers, but they all seem to be working fine and dandy.

I do not know if this is related, but explorer.exe doesn't start at boot, when I am powering up my computer I am left with a blank screen ( starting explorer manually through task manager). And I just noticed that my device manager is blank, this is a rather new development, because earlier today I could open my device manager and see all me devices no problem.

When I open a video file in Media player Classic I get the following error rapoort:

Solution
Your issue is not the sound, the major issue is everything else that is happening. Boot into safe mode and run a sfc /scannow command. If that does not fix things, boot off the Windows media and run a Repair Setup.
