I would like to bring it to your attention that fake Magic the
Gathering boosters bearing the Wizards of the Coast logos are being
sold in Melbourne, Australia.

They are being sold by the Two Up Shop
Shop 1015 Southland Shopping Centre Cheltenham VIC 3192
ph: (03) 9585 7522.

The fake boosters were sold from a box bearing the logos "Wizards of
the Coast", "Magic, The Gathering" and "Core Set".

The fake booster packaging is practically identical to the genuine
product produced by Wizards of the Coast in appearance. It bears the
logos "Magic, The Gathering", "Advanced", "Core Set" on the front.
Printed on the back is the website "magicthegathering.com", "the
Wizards of the Coast Logo" and the disclaimer containing copyright and
USA patent number 5662332.

The cards contained in the fake booster were not Eighth Edition they
were from the Onslaught set, and there was not the correct ratio of
Commons, Uncommons and Rare. On a past occasion I have also observed
being sold in the Two Up Shop, Cheltenham, a box of Onslaught
Boosters. I never bought an Onslaught booster from there so I can not
tell you whether they are genuine or not.

The Cards themselves are exact copies of genuine Magic the Gathering
cards except they are printed on poor quality card, they are too shiny
and the contrast between the colours in the printing are different.

The price of the booster from the Two Up Shop, Cheltenham was $3.95
[Australia] and a genuine booster retails for $5.50 [Australia] It is
not unreasonable to assume that the fakes were discounted genuine
Wizards of the Coast Boosters.

*** snipped the fake card warning *****

Did you also report that to wizards? And are you certain that the product is
fake? Becaus if you inadvertedly do a false accusation, you are cutting very
hard in someones income.

You should not be posting this matter-of-factly without conclusive evidence.
You can say "they might be fakes".

Packaging errors are known to occur. This does not prove anything. You say
that the ratio was incorrect, but you didn't mention what you actually got.

Please post a scan on a website somewhere and let us make our own judgment.

It's not that I don't trust you, it's just that you have to understand that
anybody who might have a grudge against a store can come here and post
anything they want. If there is a scam going on, then you should provide
some hard evidence before posting the name and address of a store that could
be completely innocent. It's only fair that we get all the information
before damning somebody.
