I built this computer about 4 years ago. Just recently, out of nowhere, the screen went black (it sounded like the computer was still running) and I can't get it back. Normally, when I power on, it beeps and then I get the mobo splash screen. Now, everything powers on, but it never beeps and nothing happens. If I press the MEMOK button, it flashes red.

Mobo: Asus M4A87TD
RAM: 8GB Hyperx DDR3
GPU: Sapphire Radeon 5670
CPU: AMD Phenom II x4

After doing some trouble shooting, I replaced the mobo with a MSI 970A-G43 but the same exact thing is still happening.

Any other ideas? Should I try replacing the RAM or does it sound like the processor is shot?

Take out the RAM, reseat and leave only one RAM in the motherboard. If that doesn't boot the computer, reset the CMOS. (Using the button or taking out the battery, disconnecting the mains and leaving the computer without power for a while)

Thanks for the reply. I've done that already--tried both sticks in all 4 RAM slots with no change. Also took out the battery on the mobo, waited 10-15 minutes and tried again. Still no change!

I don't think it does. I took the battery out and waited a while before putting it back and that didn't do anything. I'm thinking it's not the mobo though--I have replaced it with an MSI 970A-G43 and am still having the issue. It's a brand new motherboard in there now.

I don't have an integrated graphics card. Tried reseating the GPU (which didn't appear to be loose or anything) and still stuck at the same thing.

What I did to fix this was hold the button down, then restarted the computer. My MemOK light was solid though, and it started blinking when I held it. I then rebooted and it was fine!
