Just a little more info due to problems that I (and others) have had, particularly with Z170 boards and Skylake processors. When your computer first boots up, the memory will be running at 2133 MHz (the default for the motherboard). You can confirm this on the BIOS screen.
After enabling XMP, you might get a black screen, that is, XMP didn't work. Just reset the BIOS defaults for the motherboard. Your manual should tell you how to do it. You probably will just need to clear the CMOS.
Hopefully, that won't happen. But it did to me on several Z170 boards, both ASUS and Gigabyte. Worst case: your memory will run fine at 2133, and you won't notice much difference if any.
