Hi folks.

I'm planning to build a new PC based on the Core 2 Duo E6600, an Asus P5B motherboard and 2GB RAM, but I'm unable to decide what speed memory to go for and was hoping for some advice.

As I see it, my choices are:

- DDR2-533 / PC2-5400
- DDR2-800 / PC2-6400
- DDR2-1066 / PC2-8500

Logically, it would seem that running the memory synchronously with the CPU FSB would give the best performance, but this is obviously the most expensive option and I don't know whether the performance benefits would be significant compared with the slower types.

I've been unable to find any articles on the web doing a straight performance comparison of different memory speeds with the same CPU & mainboard. Does anyone know of any, or can anyone advise me based on their own findings?

Cheers.
