Memory Bus Width

amd64/x86-64 computers typically have a 128bit memory bus.

Bus width is a minor figure for GPUs. Bandwidth is more important. And even more important than that, how the data is processed from such a data pipeline.

AMD has cards with a 1024 bit bus, but they don't compete with the 256bit bus width of the latest Nvidia cards, excepting the Titan XP with is 384bit bus. AMD's latest cards also have a 256bit bus. We can probably assume AMD will release their Vega line with a 512bit bus. This typically what has happened every other generation or so.

Buses are more expensive the larger they are, and there is more chance for defective construction.
