memory card error in canon camera

I am facing the problem of memory card error. even PC can't detect the card/format it.what's the solution of it? or is that problem going to damage whole camera?

SD Cards go bad. I would try to read it outside the camera, in an SD card reader with a PC. Most notebooks have one built in these days. If it is not recognized, than it has gone bad, and toss the card.

Yes i agree with digitaldoc!! sometime the camera didnt accept the card but eventually the pc can read it... but for me both in pc and cam didnt read because of improper installation of card.. if not all the above then your card may be damaged..
