Memory CL equivalence

Hi,

I've been looking for an answer but I cant find any!

My motherboard supports only 266 DDR, I've installed 2 Infineon 512Mb
266 DDR CL2 modules. I want to increase the RAM, but 1Gb 266 CL2
modules are hard to find (and harder to buy, they are damn
expensive!!).
¿Can I install a 1Gb 333 CL2.5 Module? ¿Would it work? ¿If I force it
to CL2@266Mhz, would it work correctly?

Thxxx all!

There's no definite answer. But I will say that if you get a good mfg.
(Samsung, Corsair, Crucial, etc.) your chances are better. Also, check out
the spec sheets for these 333Mhz sticks. Sometimes they'll actually list the
slower speed and corresponding mem timings.

Yes.it should workThey are all 3.3v DDR ram with the same connectors.
.. The designations 266,333,400 etc. are all the same ram tested up to those
speeds. Doesn't mean a 400 stick won't run at 266.It just needs to be set at
266 in your BIOS. One thing though, one normal 266 stick of memory may not work
together with a 400 stick set to 266.You might have to change some settings CAS
and dimm voltage maybe.

Depends on the module. They're often (though not always) spec'd to derate
the CL by 0.5 for each step in the DDR specification. So CL2.5 PC2700 often
also supports CL2 PC2100 (as does CL3 PC3200). Unfortunately, without a spec
sheet it's impossible to tell, so either you'll need to find a friendly
seller who will check for you (or let you check) or find some RAM that
specifies that it can do CL2@133MHz.
