Looking at doing a build with either of these 2 boards. Since the z690i isn't all that old (released Oct 2021) I was surprised to see that the Memory Clock Speed listed on Amazon was so low for this product, 2133mhz & the z790i (released Oct 2022) memory speed shows 7000mhz. That's a big difference, I was under the impression that the z690i was the top of the line for ASUS (at the time of release) and 1 year later its the z790i with a huge difference in Memory Clock Speed, 4,867mhz difference, that's a huge leap. At the moment I have the ASUS b660i and it has Memory Clock Speed of 6000mhz. I realize it can't be overclocked but I paid $200 for this board at the beginning of the year and find it hard to believe that the z690i only has 2133mhz and is suppose to be a high end board.
I'm wondering if this is a typo for the z690i? If its correct does that mean the only way I can get higher is to overclock? I'm techy to a point and trying to understand the difference. Never done any overclocking as yet. I realize that higher is better, but how much better, will I noticed a huge difference, just wondering why ASUS made a high end board with only 2133mhz memory clock speed. Contacted tech support at ASUS and spoke to someone about this. WHAT A TOTAL WASTE OF TIME, all he did was read me the specs from their webpage and had ZERO answers for me.
I am not a gamer, this would be for a work pc. Heavy use of Lr, Ps, Luminosity Blending in Ps w/multiple layers, and some video. Thanks for reading, maybe someone has some answers for me.
