Memory compatibility asus mobo

Complete newbie here. I'm over budget on my first build, looking to use some free memory from a friend.

Asus p8z77 v lk board
I7 3770k CPU
Wd black 1tb drive
Samsung 840 pro ssd
Corsair 600 psu

Memory sticks are 6gb (3 x 2)
Pc3 12800 gold series ocz
"8-8-8 @ 1.65v"

Can I use them?
Also, if I were to buy some memory in the future, what should my choices be?

Sorry if I've included too much info, but not knowing much about this stuff, well I can use all the help I can get.

That particular memory does not appear on the Asus QVL list. That said, try it out as most memory will work - use two sticks in the blue slots.

If you need ram, check the asus web site for your board and the memory QVL list.
