I want to expand the memory in my HP/Compaq 6000 Pro with a HP 3048H motherboard. Specs call for DDR3 PC3-10600. I picked up a Kingston 8GB kit (2x 4GB) of their HyperX Genesis (KHX1600C9D3K2/8GX) and the board won't POST, just producing 5 long beeps indicating a memory error. I checked the seating/slots, etc, but no go. The memory does support XMP, though I don't think this board does. Any thoughts?

HP 3048H motherboard specifications:
4 x 240-pin DDR3 DIMM slots Supports DDR3 1333/1066 MHz non-ECC, un-buffered memory (Max 16GB)

The memory you bought is the wrong speed. Adding to existing memory can be a problem, since your existing memory was never tested with the newer memory.
KHX1600C9D3K2/8GX is a kit of two 512M x 64-bit. (4GB) DDR3-1600

@Calvin7: I've never experienced faster memory being an issue and I never said I was mixing.

I got online with Kingston support, and at first they said sure, no problem running at lower speed. I explained the POST behavior and then they wanted to know what the board was in. Well, oddly enough the HP 3048H motherboard was found in an HP computer (DC6000 to be exact). Then they changed their tune that this memory won't work with HP computers. Moreover, they have discontinued all memory that would work in this computer. They did provide part numbers for single sticks of compatible memory that may still be in the channel, but no matched kits.

Talked to Crucial, they have 24 identified kits that they guarantee will work in the configs of 1600 and 1333MHz at CL11, 9, and 7 in 4, 8, 12, or 16GB matched kits. The CSR said that any of their faster memory should work, but they limit the list until the slower memory is no longer produced.

Picking up the 8GB, 1600MHz, CL9 kit (BLS2CP4G3D1609DS1S00/BLS2KIT4G3D1609DS1S00, UPC 649528755988) on the way home from MicroCenter $59. I'll report back if I run into any issues.

Yup, it's plugging along just fine, but I had to keep the original memory in the primary slots, it still wouldn't post with the new memory in the prime pair of DIMM slots. So, we're running with 12GB with no stability issues.

Hello, can you please help me, i have the same issue... How do you solved?
