The store where I'm buying my next computer system gave me these specifications...

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz 8MB/1066FSB S775 CPU, Retail
Asus P5KC iP35 S775 ATX Mainboard w/Audio/GB/DDR2&DDR3/eSATA/FW
OCZ Vista-Upgrade 4GB DC PC2-6400 DDR2 Memory Kit
Seagate 7200.10 500GB 7200RPM 16MB SATAII Hard Drive, 5Yr
LG GSA-H62N 18X DVD+/-RW SATA Drive BLACK, OEM
BFG Geforce 8800GTS OC2 320MB PCI-E Video Card
Antec SonataIII Mid-Tower Case w/500W PS, Black
Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate Edition DVD (64Bit - OEM)

My question is in regards to the memory.

The OCZ Vista-Upgrade 4GB DC PC2-6400 DDR2 Memory Kit is costing me $286.

However, right now the store is having this sale:

OCZ Vista-Upgrade 2GB DC PC2-6400 DDR2 Memory Kit for $109 less $30 so therefore $79

So if I get two of these it'll wind up costing me $158 which is $128 less than the original configuration they gave me.

My real question is if there's a difference by going with the 4GB vs getting 2 @ 2 GB besides the price.

Thanks.

IT doesn't appear that there is much of a difference, other than possibly the timings or the number of memory DIMM sticks. You could end up with 4-1 Gig sticks versus 2-2 Gig sticks. However, I would ask why they are having a sale on the memory, as well as the differences.

You can also ask them to use the different ram and apply those prices to your system.
