Hi

I'm confused about the memory on my graphics card and could use some advice. I have a Pallit 2GB Geforce GTX 285. The GPU-Z utility shows the memory as 2048MB which is what I would expect.

However I've also run dxdiag on Windows 7 and it shows the approx memory as 748MB which is way too low.

I've searched some forums and some posts suggest you have to divide this by 3 for GDDR3 memory to get the right figure. This would give 249MB effective memory on a 2GB card! If this post is correct it should be showing as 6144MB.

I also read somewhere else that dxdiag does not count memory in use but surely it doesn't take this much to run the desktop?

I'm confused and am worried that something is wrong with my graphics card.

Can anyone help?

Thanks for replying so quickly. I'm using the Windows 7 RC1 64 bit which is the Ultimate Edition. It shouldn't have the c3.5GB memory cap like some 32 bit systems.

Thanks again

When running the RC 64bit my 4GB only showed as 3.25GB and with the RTM it shows as 4GB.

Thanks for replying. It's my VRAM that is showing wrongly not my RAM - that is showing as 6GB no poblem.
