Memory constantly running over 80%

Hi

Ok so I've noticed my computer is running a bit slower than normal recently when opening and closing applications so I opened up task manager to see if I had everything disabled on the 'start-up tab' because I know that enabling some of those can sometimes slow down your computer but they were already disabled and then I went over to the 'processes' tab and realized that it said my memory was at about 80-90%. I made sure that all my applications were shut and they were so I was confused and then I had a look at all the processes that were running and added up all of the amount of data it was using and it was probably about 500mb of memory (I have 8gb of ram).

So I had a look at the 'performance' tab and it was saying that 6.5gb of my 8gb of ram was being used, so now i'm really confused and want to know how to fix this and would be very grateful for help.

Thanks.

Ok i started up my computer and my memory AND CPU was averaging around 80% but about 3minutes later the CPU average dropped to around 40% while memory is staying the same

In windows 7 you have a box/button "show process for all users"
I failed to notice you were on 8.1 though, my mistake.

Ok I just ran a scan with malwarebytes and it found 6 threatening files which i deleted then restarted my computer, memory is now at 20% on startup so that seems to have fixed it mostly.
