memory does not work with multiple sticks & more

when I have 4 RAM modules installed in my pc, I get the 55 Q-code on my motherboard indicating that there is no memory installed. I also get this with 2 sticks, however with one stick it actually works. whith one stick installed, I get different Q-codes related to the CPU. I cannot read all of them before the disappear, but it usually hangs around 13(pre-memory CPU initialization started), 32 and 35(both CPU post memory initialization). the rest is a buch of Q-codes I cannot read before they disappear. also, when I turn the PC on, it keeps on shutting off after about ten seconds, only to restart again after one or two seconds. it does not give any signal to my monitor. I have tried hooking it up to both the motherboard as well as my graphics card, both not giving any signals. I used different cables, including ones I knew for sure worked, but no luck. it keeps shutting off after about ten seconds, then restarting again, and repeating.

specs:
motherboard: ASUS ROG maximus VIII ranger
processor: Intel core i5 6600K
RAM: 32(4X8)GB RAM
PSU: corsair GM 750M
graphics card: GTX 980

does anyone know what could cause this and how to solve the problem?
I should note that the processor power plug is not compatible with the power cord on my PSU, so instead I am using an adapter that converts one PCI-e cord into the correct power cord. this does not seem to be the problem, however.

recheck your psu box you should have the right cable to power the motherboard and using a pci cable you realy run for issue .

I can not find any more cables in my PSU box, and I can't find any adapters online either. my only option is to go with the PCIe to ATX12V connector.

it is the yellow on mark 4x4 that goes on the motherboard it is a fix one with the other 24 pins come out because with gpu cable to power her you could damage her .

fuck. I always looked at the pins, saw that they did not match and assumed that they would not fit. they actually do, though.

how high are the chances of this damaging my motherboard or CPU? the adapter only uses 6 out of 8 pins on the PCIe cable, and since this cable was made for it it should not damage anything... right?

I hope it isn't damaged, but the constant restarting persists.

EDIT: I just moved the one memory stick I'm currently using to a different slot, and now it is stuck on Q-code 62(installing of the PCH runtime services) but not restarting constantly. if it persists for much longer, I think I will turn the PC off and try moving the stick to a different slot. this can't hurt right?

I don't think the motherboard is broken, with this new development.

ANOTHER EDIT: so the RAM only works in the first and third slot, although it stays at Q-code 62(installing of the PCH runtime services), still not giving me any signal. whenever I install anything into the second and fourth slot(these are the recommended slots) it constantly restarts again.

check the motherboard user manual about the pch also if you put 1 ram module in slot 2 and press mem ok button what happens ,also in section 2-17 bios beep code .

Could be a variety of things (and for info - as the codes flash through they are fine, just showing it checked it, when it stops there is a problem related to that code passing), might want to bench it and if possible try things like different video cables, drive cables etc. Have a guide that may help here:
