Hi All

I am thinking about getting more memory for my system, with Asrock x58 delux as my motherboard. Asrock are using triple channel, and right now I have 2GBx3 (6GB) of memory.
I have looking on 2X8 GB (Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB DDR3 PC-12800 1600MHz CL9), but i don't know if it is a bad choice when it is not triple memory?
And my other question is, can my motherboard use the full potential of the Crucial Ballistix Sport memory blocks (Im thinking, Asrock x58 delux is a old motherboard, and I don't know if it can make the full of it with PC-12800).

I have uploaded some pictures of my system http://
(I am running windows 7, and the reason for more memory is because i am working with 3d rendering and movie...easy now, not in the professional way).
I hope you can help me...it is some time ago I have been totally up to date with what is going on in the computer world.

You can't use that kit, because your MB (x58) can support up to 32GB in 6 DIMM slots so the RAM have to be less than 4GB for the single stick. http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/X58%20Deluxe/
You can use 2X4 kit, or 3x4kit, even you use the dual channel mode for the x58, you are fine, here is one review for the Triple-Channel vs. Dual-Channel performances. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/Intel-Core-i7-Nehalem,2057-13.html

Solution
If you mix memory types (I can't quite from your post figure out if that's what you intend doing with the 8GB kit) there is a fairly substantial chance the memory won't play nice together. SOme here will tell you that with tweaking memory clocks etc. in BIOS you have a chance to make it work. That is true, but it also may never work, depending on various small things in memory timing and architecture.

Also, if you have any number other than 3 or 6 pairs of identical sticks, the triple channel mode may drop out, slowing memory performance. That usually isn't a severe hit and you may not notice it. Your motherboard specifications says it supports the 1600MHz memory as an overclock. I don't know if that means you'll have to tweak the BIOS, get some XMP profile implemented or if it will run without intervention.

Chances are the 8GB sticks will appear and be seen but used as 4GB sticks. X58 is designed to a max of 24GB in a 6x4GB scenario. Also there are no guarantees when mixing sets of DRAM, it's a crapshoot. Best to get a 3x4GB or 4x4GB (16GB), with 4x4GB it's a small hit as it will run in dual instead of tri-channel mode

Hi ALL

Thanks for the answer....My thinking was to take my old 2GBx3 out of my system and replace it with 8GBX2.
But do I understand it right...my motherboard doe's not support that?
So therefor I need to by 4GBx4 and run in dual mode....Do I loose allot with this? or 4GBx3 and only haave 12GB (I don't know if it is enough...I am used to "only" 6GB, so i must feel a difference).
