Hi ,

I recently got on eBay a HP Z800 work station HP Workstation Z800 (1TB, Intel Xeon 2x 3.06 GHz, 16 GB RAM, Quadro FX 4800).

I would like to upgrade the memory to around 48 gb .

The Boot Block is 11/10/09 .

Could anyone advise me what memory I need .
I have checked on HP and there are 3 types not sure what to choose.

Am new to PC's from Mac and any help is greatly appreciated.

Many thanks in advance Steve

HI,

It has 12 slots for the ram 6 for each cpu .

On the Hp specs for the Z800

It says it can take
  •  The HP Z800 supports Unbuffered 1GB single rank and 2GB dual rank PC3-10600E 1333MHZ ECC DIMMs
  •  The HP Z800 supports Registered 4GB and 8GB dual rank PC3-10600R and PC3-10600P 1333MHz DIMMs
  •  The HP Z800 supports Registered 16GB (2H 2009) quad rank PC3-8500R and PC3-8500P 1067MHz DIMMs

I went to purchase these on eBay in uk
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/48GB-6x8...767777&hash=item1eb782cc07:g:2ZYAAOSww9xZD1Vc

The guy selling them asked for my Boot Block which was 11/10/09 and said they would not work so that got me confused as they are 10600R.

I do not want to buy the wrong ones and image the motherboard .

Just for 3D I need more than 16gb .

Once again thank you for your help :)

all the best Steve
