Hello i am wondering what the best GPU and Memory upgrade option would be for my current build

Specs:
Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
Intel Core i7 4790 @ 3.60GHz
8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 800MHz
MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition (MS-7922)
4095MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 (MSI)

I dont want to spend much more then $500-$600 on the GPU and i dont really have a spending limit on the Memory but nothing to crazy expensive. For the GPU my friend recommended Getting this card https://www.newegg.ca/msi-geforce-gtx-1660-ti-gtx-1660-ti-gaming-x-6g/p/N82E16814137391. Not sure if its a good idea or not. Any and all advice is welcome. Sorry if i posted this in the wrong sub forum i am new to this site.

The 1660 Ti is a good card for playing all modern games, and those that will be released over the next few years. As for memory (yours is actually 1600MHz, it is reported as half), getting two matching sticks of 8GB DDR3-1866, to total 16GB, would be the best choice for you.

However, with a $600 budget, plus the RAM money, have you considered instead getting a whole new system? For under $650, you could get yourself a new Ryzen system with DDR4-3000 and a 1660 Ti.
